On our Silver Reseller and Gold Reseller Plans we allow bandwidth overselling at no additional cost. For a mere five dollars more per month you can have this feature on our Introductory and Bronze Reseller Plans as well.
Why is this good?
When you purchase a reseller plan you are allocated a certain amount of bandwidth for the plan. When you create an account you allocate this bandwidth to the web site you are creating. So, if you have 100 MB of bandwidth and create ten web sites each allocated 10 MB of bandwidth you cannot create any more sites because you have used up all of your bandwidth allocation. You would have to upgrade to the next higher plan to receive more bandwidth allocation.
With Bandwidth Overselling you can allocate more than your plan's resources. For example, if your plan has 100 MB of bandwidth you can create ten sites each with 200 MB, 500 MB or even 10,000 MB of bandwidth. (You could put in any number you want).
So you are offering Unlimited Bandwidth?
No. While you may allocate more than your plan's bandwidth any bandwidth usage in excess of your plan will incur additional charges. For example, if your plan has 100 MB of bandwidth in it, even though you can allocate 100,000 MB of bandwidth the price of your plan only assumes you will use 100 MB. If you use more than 100 MB of bandwidth per month you will need to upgrade to the next higher plan or pay for the additional bandwidth used--just like any of our plans. Additional bandwidth charges are here.
How this can help you . . .
This can help you in two ways. First, one of the most frequently asked questions we receive is: How much bandwidth should I give a site? Most clients know how much disk space a site needs because they can simply add up how many files they have and count the space used. The problem comes is that sometimes it is hard to decide how busy a site is going to be. By allowing you to allocate a lot more bandwidth you can eliminate guessing how busy a site is going to be.
The second way way this can help you is if you resell hosting to your clients. Today it seems that a common marketing tactic is to sell a person more bandwidth than they actually use. (Most sites use less than 100 MB per month and giving a site 3,000 MB of bandwidth will allow approximately 90,000 page views per month.) Even though sites won't use a lot of bandwidth people like knowing they have something more. With bandwidth overselling you can provide them with that little extra.
Last Thoughts.
Bandwidth overselling is a very good choice to use with your reseller account. It allows flexibility and an additional marketing tool for you for just a small charge. It's really a no-brainer.
